United States · 6 min · 2026

Directed by Gabrielle Foret

Jamie’s Cosmic Chase is a short 2D animated film following a rookie zookeeper’s first day on the job at an intergalactic zoo. Shortly after his shift begins, a baby creature escapes its enclosure and begins to wander around the zoo. Jamie tries (and repeatedly fails) to rescue the baby, resulting in a comedic chase across enclosures. Overall, this short film is a study in 2D animation fundamentals, design and story development, and project organization.

About the Filmmaker

Gabrielle Foret ↗

I am Gabrielle Foret, an animator from Biloxi, Mississippi. I first became interested in the world of animation as a small child watching Hanna-Barbera cartoons with my dad. From that point on, I have been fascinated by the medium, its storytelling abilities, and the techniques used to bring these stories to life. I have recently studied animation at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. During my time at USA, I have learned both 2D and 3D animation methods, digital modeling, and how to create and build upon designs and story concepts.
