Siren

United States / No Dialogue · 7 min · 2026

Directed by Mira Taliaferro

Logline: A withdrawn siren becomes fixated on a persistent rash and attempts to remove it by force in the sea. As the rash spreads, her desperation grows and her attempts become more perilous. Synopsis: On a cold, rocky shore, a blue siren tries to wash a strange rash from her skin. Embarrassed by the rash, she becomes withdrawn from the other sirens. She attempts to wash the rash away in the rough sea, to no success. Frustrated by the failed attempt, she repeatedly dives into the rocky sea to forcefully remove the rash. She is bashed against the rocks and as her injuries worsen and the rash spreads, the desperate siren finds herself unable to fly. She climbs the cliffside, which towers over the sea, and takes a final dive into the rough waves. After plummeting into the stormy sea, she awakens to find herself in the tide pools, where two of the other sirens had pulled her to safety. They reassure her, revealing their own scars, and begin to sing a healing song. Tentatively, the blue siren relaxes and joins their harmony.
