Timekeeper

United States / English · 12 min · 2025

Directed by Jason Alexander Harrington

The Timekeeper lives in a small station outside time. Now it is dying, and the tapestry that holds the universe together is unraveling. It must repair the failing machinery before all human existence is lost.

About the Filmmaker

Jason Alexander Harrington

Jason Harrington is a professor of film and animation at Ithaca College. His work blends animation, experimental film, and material-based practices, often using physical objects and handmade processes to explore time, place, and transformation. His films have screened nationally and internationally at film festivals, museums, and juried exhibitions, and his earlier works have received multiple awards, including Best Animation honors. In 2019, Harrington completed Curiosity, a live-action short that screened internationally at nature and independent film festivals. He recently completed two stop-motion works: Tideline, an experimental short created from materials gathered along the Maine coastline that has screened widely at international festivals, and Timekeeper, a stop-motion film that reflects on human impact on the planet, climate change, memory, and care beyond human time. Harrington was trained in drawing, painting, and sculpture and integrates tactile, hands-on methods into contemporary moving-image work. He holds a B.A. from the College of the Atlantic and an M.F.A. from Syracuse University.
