Tutor the Terrible

United States / English · 2 min · 2026

Directed by Grace Parry

Tutor the Terrible is a comedic musical short about a young Viking struggling with his math homework. When he asks his father for help, Viking Dad insists on teaching him “the Viking way,” launching into a wildly exaggerated lesson filled with severed limbs, sheep heads, mead, and burning villages. As the increasingly absurd examples terrify his son, Viking Kid finally fights back—using Viking math against his father. Through the chaos, he discovers that he actually understands math after all, leading to an unexpectedly heartfelt father-son victory.

About the Filmmaker

Grace Parry ↗

Grace is currently a graduate of Ringling College of Art and Design in Computer Animation as of May 2026. For the past year and a half she has been working on her Senior Thesis film titled Tutor the Terrible. Based off of her wacky humor with her family, her film surrounds a Viking Kid trying to learn math from his dad, "the Viking Way". Much of the humor in the film was inspired by her father, Mark Parry. Grace grew up around the film process; having a cinematographer dad. As a result, her knowledge about the film process at a young age led her to apply to the Computer Animation program at Ringling College of Art and Design in 2022. As of now, Grace is looking for opportunities to learn and grow as a Lighting/Compositing Artist and Animator.
